A custom console built to run the full length of the sectional — two tiers of hardwood butcher block on blackened steel X-legs. The upper top sits at bar height behind the couch, a place to set a drink down or display a few things; the lower shelf runs the same length for plants, books and photos. The butcher block was sanded smooth and finished to a warm sheen to bring out the grain, with the dark steel bases giving it an industrial edge against the wood floors.
